What changed

Version by version, in plain words. If something was fixed, this says what was broken; if something was added, what it's for. No «performance improvements».

Version 1.4

1.4.0

  • VoiceFlow speaks English. If your Mac is in English, so is the whole app: the screens, the error messages, and the system dialogs asking for the microphone and for speech recognition. Release notes too, which until now always came in Spanish.
  • Along the way: the app was telling macOS it was an English app while every one of its texts was in Spanish. That's why the update dialog came up in English on a Mac set to Spanish — the system handed Sparkle the language the app claimed, not the one it had. It now says the one it is.

  • Your own terms now reach Whisper. If you had it switched on, the vocabulary you'd taught it wasn't being handed over — «AppDelegate» came out as «app de Legate» — even though it worked fine with the Apple engine. They're given to it before transcribing now, the way it was promised.
  • Translation is no longer polished by the on-device model. What it actually did got measured: in 8 out of 10 sentences it handed back the translation untouched, and of the 2 it did rewrite, it made both worse — «no me da la vida esta semana» came out as «I am not feeling well this week», which means something else. Without a cloud model the translation comes out faithful: correct, and half a second faster. Settings says so now instead of leaving a switch on that did nothing.
  • Settings you change on another device show up straight away. They arrived over iCloud and were saved correctly, but the screen kept showing the old value until you restarted the app — and touching that same setting wrote over it and undid what had arrived.
  • Accessibility permission is picked up the moment you grant it. You used to have to leave the screen and come back: macOS doesn't announce a change to that permission, so the app didn't notice until something forced it to look again.
  • The toolbar button no longer dims when you hover over it. It was being given a style of its own that fought with the toolbar's, and the button darkened at exactly the moment it was meant to light up.
  • Asking for VoiceFlow Pro now happens inside the app. Under Licence there's a button that writes the email for you, with your account code already in it: you get the payment link by return, and the licence once it's paid. That code used to have to be copied out by hand and sent separately, which is where people fell off.
  • No iCloud session, no problem: you can ask for an unlinked licence that works the same.
  • Stumbling at the start of a sentence gets cleaned up now. «I I think so» survived untouched because the rule was case-sensitive, and the speech engine capitalises the start of every sentence — which is exactly where people stumble most.
  • «I mean» and «sort of» come out even with a single comma around them. The engine punctuates by intonation and doesn't always put both in.
  • Corrections no longer take a word with them. «Let's meet Monday, no, make it Tuesday» left behind «Tuesday» and swallowed the «Let's meet».
  • No more crash report on quitting after Whisper had been running. Tearing down the Metal library aborted on the way out; now it never gets to run.
  • The licence has its own section in the sidebar, with the steps to activate it. It used to be tucked away at the bottom of «Overview».
  • Linking your iCloud account is a button now, not a line of small print. It's a required step to activate a licence and it was almost invisible.
  • Opened for the first time from somewhere else, it offers to move itself to Applications. A copy sitting in Downloads can't update itself, and the warning macOS gave didn't explain that.
  • Only one copy opens at a time. With two running, both listened for the shortcut and the text came out twice.

Version 1.2

1.2.0

  • Translate the selection: pick some text, press the shortcut, and the translation appears, with the option to replace the original in place.
  • Custom vocabulary: the names and jargon you teach it come out spelled your way.

Version 1.1

1.1.0

  • First public release, with automatic updates.
